Recruitment Documentary CASE Study

CLIENT: Gulf Winds International BUDGET: $7,000 CATEGORY: Recruitment Video LENGTH: 5-7 Minutes

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Gulf Winds International came to us with a need for more drivers to help them expand their company. They explained to us that the truck driving industry is unique in that there’s almost a constant supply of shipments that can be managed, but a shortage of quality drivers. We have extensive experience shooting documentary/reality Films and TV shows, so when they asked us to produce a short fly-on-the-wall type documentary series about their drivers to showcase what life is really like as a truck driver, we were more than excited to help them out. 2 years later, we’ve traveled over 50k miles shooting documentary’s about their drivers, and have increased recruitment across the board in all their main operating cities including: Houston, TX | Memphis, TN | Mobile, AL | Savannah, GA

CHALLENGE:

To dispel the preconceived notions that most people have about truck drivers and what they do. Gulf Winds was clear when they told us that they wanted to portray their drivers as small business owners and upstanding people. Our film needed to humanize their drivers and provide an intimate glimpse into their lives on the road. So our client can connect authentically with their target audience aged 25-45, we needed to present the trucking industry as an exciting and lucrative career choice that defies stereotypes.

SOLUTION:

With our 11 years of cinema-quality documentary experience, we specialize in crafting captivating videos that transcend traditional marketing. Our approach is what sets us apart. Our skilled team, led by award-winning documentary filmmaker Zach Huber, knows how to manage documentary projects to create authentic and compelling narratives. We start each project by having a preliminary meeting with our client and the driver they’ve hand selected to be the focus of the documentary. In the meeting we go over expectations, and talk through the process of the shoot, what questions we’ll be asking them in the interview, and any questions they may have about the process to make sure everyone is on the same page about the project and feeling comfortable. Our two person team of a producer and director of photography travel to the city that the driver hubs in, and over the course of two days shoot all the interview content and B-Roll necessary to edit together the final product. Our team has a knack for capturing the drivers' authentic voices, allowing them to share their personal journeys and deliver impactful sound bites. Once the shooting has completed, our experienced team of editors can typically turn around these videos in about 2 weeks depending on how much feedback our clients would like us to implement.

RESULTS:

Gulf Winds International has implemented 5 of our documentary’s so far through facebook/youtube advertising channels, and our videos have amassed a collective 10k views and increased recruitment in their main operating cities. After we produced the 5th video for them, their marketing team politely told us that we were the greatest thing to ever happen to them.
